ANNOUNCEMENTS AND PUBLIC COMMENTS

Vance Kelly reported that he had tried to file a building permit with the county, but they told him that it had to be signed by LWID before they would approve it.  Since any items that would cause a problem with LWID utilities were considered, LWID agreed to sign the permit.

DEPARTMENT REPORTS

ROADS –  David reported no interest in purchasing the old salt spreader.  Since there was no interest, David recommended that LWID continue to use it for another year.  The Board had no objection.

SEWER –  Kansas Department of  Health and Environment inspected the LWID sewer system.  They found LWID in compliance with their regulations.   The primary concern was surface water infiltration in the lagoons, which can adversely affect the 180-day retention period of BODs

WATER SYSTEM – The water usage for April was 303,550 gallons sold, with a loss of 93,850 gallons (23.6%).  Since the Losses continue to be high, LWID will have KRWA test the master meter before going into an extensive hunt for a water leak.

TRASH SERVICE – There was nothing to report.

OLD BUSINESS -  David reported that the conversion of the Sewer Lift station is still on schedule for June.  The County will reimburse LWID once the project is completed.

NEW BUSINESS

The LWID Board went into Executive Session at 8:55 am to review job applications. The Board returned to Regular Session at 9:15 am.   No action was taken.

David reported that US Postage for postcards would increase by four cents. After discussion, Harold moved that LWID purchase one year of stamps at the lower rate.   Jerry seconded the motion, and the vote carried.

ADJOURNMENT

Harold adjourned the meeting at 9:20 am.
